Recognized among 251 nationwide applicants, KOTOBUKI’s global eldercare study tour model earns three awards.
Nonprofit Corporation KOTOBUKI (Representative: Tomoki Kaneko) has received three awards at the Business Creation Contest 2025, organized by the Shinagawa Business Club and co-hosted by Shinagawa City, with support from the Kanto Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
Out of 251 applications submitted nationwide, eight finalists were selected. KOTOBUKI received the ATR Award, the Linked.Assist Award, and the Finalist Award.
The contest evaluated entries based on innovation, feasibility, and market potential.
Business Overview
The awarded initiative, “Connecting Japan and the World through Eldercare Study Tours and Training Programs,” exports Japan’s practical knowledge in eldercare to countries—primarily in Asia—facing rapid aging.
The program provides pre-visit online learning, on-site study tours with coordination and interpretation, and post-visit implementation support.
At its core, the model aims to contribute internationally, generate foreign revenue, and reinvest a portion back into Japanese care facilities — building a sustainable economic cycle for eldercare.
Founder’s Perspective
Between 2020 and 2030, approximately 30 countries are expected to enter “super-aged” status. Japan is widely regarded as a front-runner country in aging.
Rather than framing demographic aging as a crisis, the organization positions it differently:
“Aging is not a problem, but an opportunity to rethink how society should function.”
“Winning the corporate awards feels less like a goal achieved and more like finally standing at the starting line.”
