“Voices from Japanese Practitioners” is a webinar series that brings the experiences, innovations, and perspectives of Japanese care professionals to a global audience.
Each session features a practitioner working on the frontlines of care and community support in Japan, offering practical insights and lessons that can inspire care systems around the world.
In this second session, we welcome Rie Kawaguchi, a Registered Nurse and Certified Care Manager from Japan.
Drawing on her experience supporting older adults living with dementia in a rural residential care setting, Kawaguchi-san will explore how nurses can contribute not only through medical knowledge, but by walking alongside people in their everyday lives. Through moving stories from practice, she will share how relationships, dignity, community, and ordinary daily moments can transform the experience of aging and even the final stage of life.
This session invites us to rethink care—not as something we do for people, but as a way of recognizing that every person remains themselves until the very end.
